Gabby Goodman
Gabby (she/her) is a ProDoula Certified Postpartum Doula with a lifelong fascination with birth, babies, biology, and family dynamics. After many years in Philadelphia, Gabby and her partner moved to Vermont in June 2026 to be closer to family and the mountains—and for Gabby to join the Vermont Doula Company team.
Gabby holds a master’s degree in theology from Harvard Divinity School and spent much of her 15-year career teaching middle school history, civics, literature, religion, and spirituality. She also coached and mentored new teachers, deepening her skills in active listening, creative problem-solving, and supporting people as they navigate something entirely new. She sees many parallels between that work and supporting new parents: offering information and reassurance, helping people recognize their own capabilities, and being a steady presence through both rewarding and challenging moments.
Before joining Vermont Doula Company, Gabby supported friends and families during the postpartum period, gaining hands-on experience caring for newborns and supporting new parents. Since joining VDC, she has worked full-time providing overnight postpartum care, supporting families with newborn care, infant feeding, rest, recovery, and the practical and emotional needs that arise during the early weeks and months.
Gabby is comfortable sitting with complex emotions and meeting people where they are without judgment or an immediate need to “fix” what they are experiencing. Her background in education makes her especially skilled at researching topics, making sense of complicated information, and sharing it in an approachable way. Her background in religion and spirituality has also shaped an open, curious approach to the different beliefs, traditions, and values families bring to the postpartum experience.
Outside of doula work, Gabby enjoys singing, fiber crafts, painting, improvisational cooking, and dancing. She is also a yoga and Reiki practitioner and loves spending time outdoors. You might find her drinking tea with her two cats, Marvin and Barty, or heading out for a long, winding hike in the woods.
