Alexis Dougherty

Alexis (she/her) is a native of upstate New York who first came to Vermont in 2015 to attend Saint Michael’s College and quickly fell in love with the state. She moved back to New York at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to be closer to family for the birth of her niece, then returned to Vermont two years later to pursue training in parent-child interaction therapy.

Alexis is a CAPPA Certified Postpartum Doula and holds a master’s degree in psychology with a focus on child development. She loves working with families and came to Vermont Doula Company looking for a different way to use her skills and experience. She previously worked with parents and babies at the Lund Family Center and brings her background in child development and family support to her work with new parents and their babies. As an auntie and someone who has worked with children for many years, one of her favorite catchphrases is, “I love returnable kids!”

Outside of work, Alexis loves spending time with her niece and nephew, her two black cats, gardening, crafting, and listening to podcasts and music. You may find her hammocking in a park with friends or out on the water, continuing her quest to master kayaking.
