Vermont Doula Company is hiring!

As demand for birth support continues to expand across Vermont, we are welcoming a new cohort of doulas this spring. This intentional cohort model combines professional training, structured employment, and long-term mentorship.

We are selecting 6 doulas to join our team, with client meetings starting in the spring/summer and on-call beginning in September 2026.

Applications open mid-March.

Why This Cohort Exists

Birth work is deeply meaningful. It is also demanding.

At Vermont Doula Company, we believe doulas deserve a sustainable, supported way to practice. Our Spring Birth Doula Cohort is designed to provide:

  • In-person birth doula training

  • Structured onboarding

  • Team-based call sharing

  • Employee compensation and benefits

  • Ongoing professional development

Whether you are experienced or newly entering the field, this cohort offers a supported pathway into birth work.


Open Positions

We are hiring:

    • 2 Full-Time

    • 2 Part- Time

  • NMC, NVRH, & North Country Hospital, CVMC, Gifford, Porter, & Rutland Regional

    • 2 Part-time Teams (3 doulas total)

Our Unique Model

Vermont Doula Company doulas are employees.

We provide:

  • Hourly pay for all hours worked

  • On-call compensation

  • Travel reimbursement

  • Liability insurance and workers comp

  • 50% call split with a doula partner

  • Administrative, billing, and marketing support

  • Regular continuing education

  • Annual wellness stipend

  • Team retreat and regular gatherings
    Access to telehealth and supplemental benefits

Average compensation per birth attended is approximately $1,100.

Full-Time

  • Up to 6 births per month

  • 3 months on-call / 1 month off rotation

Part-Time

  • Up to 3 births per month

  • Birthing centers close to home

We believe burnout prevention should be built into the structure of birth work.

Training: May 2026

Selected cohort members will be hired first and complete our in-person Birth Doula Training in May as part of their onboarding.

Full-Time hires:
Training at no cost with a one-year commitment.

Part-Time hires:
50% tuition support with a one-year commitment.

Training is also open to the public; however, employment positions are limited to 6.

Who Should Apply

We welcome applications from:

  • Experienced doulas

  • Newly trained or aspiring doulas

  • Individuals with adjacent birth experience (L&D, nursing, lactation, bodywork, yoga, perinatal support)

  • Individuals who reflect and represent the diverse communities we serve across Vermont

Reliable transportation and lifestyle capacity for call are essential.
